Light Rail Opens, Crime Increases  32%!

Trimet’s latest MAX light rail line opened Sept 12, 2009. The Southern terminus is at the Clackamas Town Center in Clackamas county.

The Clackamas County Sherriff’s Office compared the crimes before and after the line’s opening. They compared a 5 month period beginning on opening day with the same five month period one year earlier and found a 32% increase in reported crimes and a 56% increase in calls for police service.
